FAQ's
Short-Flight Driving Ranges are a New Concept. Here are some regular questions.
1. Don’t golfers want to see the full shot flight? The short net prevents them seeing this.
The development of Space Range’s short-flight range actually came about from observations at full size ranges that had adopted some form of launch monitor technology. It was noted that after about 5 shots, the clients were no longer watching the ball flight but instead referring almost immediately to the monitor to assess the shape of the flight as well as the myriad other data points. It became clear that the provision of at least anything further than 45m of ball flight was a waste.
We have determined that a distance of 25m does provide the golfer with enough visual feedback on the ball’s flight to make an assessment of the trajectory, the monitor then confirms what the player saw.
2. Why would I choose a time based system over the traditional bucket of balls delivery?
There are a couple of reasons;
-
Efficiency of time and therefore revenue
-
Allows the booking of bays that is not possible with selling buckets.
-
Encourages the customer to maximise their bay time. For instance, customers will be less inclined to chat on a phone when time based - however, if they have a bucket of balls there is no imperative to hurry.
-
Removes the need for expensive range equipment, such as ball bucket dispensers.
3. Are all of the technology elements and management requirements necessary for the Space Range short-flight driving range?
While not compulsory, the elements are recommended to maximise the experience in terms of client base, and therefore repeatable and ongoing revenues. Some elements may be removed, such as management of local compute, if there are sufficient skills in-house.
